After all, if Abraham and his descendants were to possess the land, it would not be well for Isaac to enter into an alliance, marriage, with one whose family might soon be dispossessed of their land. Now Rebekah has never seen Isaac before. Abraham’s servant runs over to her and says, “Please give me a little water to drink from your jar.” She gives him a drink, and then she says, “I will draw water for your camels also.” Eliezer gazes at her in silence as she draws water for his ten camels. Anyway, I just want you to see that it’s pretty much impossible to nail down exactly when Abraham took Keturah as a wife, and when these other children were born, and whether these sons came before or after Isaac. A master’s confidence gives to the servant dignity of character. Luke-Acts
The words of instruction Abraham gives to his servant are the last recorded words of Abraham in the Bible. Eliezer recognized the hardships of nomadic life. In V11, God makes it clear to any who might doubt where the line of promise led, when it says that ‘God blessed Isaac’. Pentateuch
How Eliezer sought to be faithful.—He gets a clear understanding of the work to be done into his mind; promises his master that he will faithfully discharge his duty; makes the result a matter of earnest prayer; does not lean to his own understanding, yet was a man of experience and years.
These are the same Midianites and the same region where Moses fled from Egypt, where God came to Moses in a burning bush, and where Moses found a wife. • Un sirviente sin nombre es enviado para conseguir una esposa para el hijo. Genesis 24 presents Abraham as advanced in age. The bible itself does not say, but out of habit I referred to him as Eliezer when I posted about the text on Facebook.
Abraham was not worried, for he knew God was preparing the way for this.
Major Prophets He needed help. His earnest address to God, for a blessing and direction in this important business.
