Beautiful location near the town of Newcastle. With coffee there is always complementary miniature cakes usually very nice. Very small niggles I'll admit, but it just took away the wow factor tbh. Kerry but currently living in Belfast. Normally we stay in B&Bs when traveling, but this was a real treat....it is a bit pricey for the rooms, but ours was large....had a king bed and a seating area and a large bathroom.....the views from the windows were fantastic....could see the ocean, the mountains and the golf course....our room was on the top on the very end.The staff were all extremely nice and helpful...we ate in the bar one afternoon and the food was good and fairly reasonable.You walk down the hotel grounds to the entrance and you cross the street and you are now walking in downtown Newcastle....walk along the beach from town and you return to the grounds....one word of caution....the hotel has a fence around it and you must enter from the main entrance....there is one gate from the hotel grounds down to the beach but we discovered that the gate is locked at night.The beach is fairly rocky up near the city and hotel but when the tide goes out, the water recedes quite a ways and if you like you can walk way out on clearer sand.Bottom line---nice resort hotel with a spa and golf course if either interest you...a bit pricey but a nice splurge to stay here....and you are close to everything in the area....Mourne Mountains, reservoirs, hiking, lots more. I must admit I was told this was one of the best prior to going and I wanted to find fault but honestly we couldn't, the breakfast was brilliant and room service efficient and prompt.We didn't have dinner in the hotel as we found a little restaurant nearby that was great, we did have a couple of drinks in Percy French and can only compliment the staff for their professionalism and courtesy. Room types may vary.

Located in Newcastle Northern Ireland the Slieve Donard Resort was delightful. My wife visited the spa and was totally stress free the rest of the trip even with my left side driving. We have seen Jamie before whilst visting the hotel, but have never met him, he is a mine of information, and a real gentleman, if there is a problem he will do everything in his power to sort it!!! I love being outdoors and trying new activities.
