During my first trip to the Big Apple, in December of 2005, the Plaza was one of the very first locations I dragged my boyfriend to. The hotel was nice. Well it's definitely Old, creepy, outdated, smells, not really sure if it's really haunted or not and we did stay in room 441, I swear I felt the bed get kicked twice the first night but my husband assured me it was in my head since he didn't feel it..

My parents stayed at the Plaza for a few nights on their way to Europe over 25 years ago and had an absolutely magical time. And apparently, I’m not the only one who feels that way. My family couldn't sleep at all the first night (not sure if because of hard beds or just feeling a little creeped out), so we left a day early, but staff was nice enough to refund our last night.

In 2004 the Plaza was purchased by real estate development company El Ad Properties. But the massive suite that Kevin and his family stayed in at the end of the movie can’t actually be found at the Plaza. Also went to the 12th floor north and nothing haunted there either but a really old hallway.. Our room 441 was huge and creepy the curtains are quite scary lol.More. And, every December since then, while on my annual winter pilgrimage to New York, I would sadly walk by the boarded up hotel wondering when I would get the chance to take a peek inside. Although the hotel was old our room was clean and comfortable. Rooms start (yes, START) at $600 per night! The Congress Hotel has graced the Chicago skyline since 1893. Due to public uproar and conservationists’ protests, El Al ended up keeping 130 of the Plaza’s rooms to be used as hotel rooms and consolidated the rest into 152 condominium rental units and 181 privately owned spaces. Go figure! Very upsetting and just plain wrong! And, sadly, it was not the Plaza experience I had been hoping for all these years. It is a very small place with a limited menu. Of the pricey purchase he said, “I haven’t purchased a building, I have purchased a masterpiece – the Mona Lisa.” Sadly, though, today that masterpiece looks more like a cheap imitation. The National 9 is 9 km from the Hotel and Grand Army Plaza … The L train ran just yards from our room and construction equipment work woke us each morning.

Our spacious guest rooms offer classic appointments and furnishings as can only be expected from New York’s most legendary address.
Our two and three bedroom connecting suites are as spacious as they are elegant. Have to squeeze by air vent to get to one side of the bed.
I, of course, still recommend stalking the Plaza, as I think everyone should see it at least once in their lives.
