There is a bit of a happy ending for sure as we see that the two are a couple obviously eventually and that is a bit typical following the tragedy before that. Not on this occasion. As usual with Joni Mitchell, Miles of Aisles is done with good taste, nothing in excess. I saw Joni at Waco, Texas in 1975 with the L.A. Express lineup that produced "Miles of Aisles", and cueing this set up is transportative. Two love songs, Jericho, and Love or Money, are most appealing of all to me. Overall, however, there's also nothing in here at all that felt like it rang false or anything. April 14, 2018.
Great engineering! A truly remarkable new Joni is heard here. I also liked Kurth's character's comment about how Hüller's character needs one to treat her kindly earlier which she herself always seemed to hide a bit with her easy-going comments and jokes about the "Frischling". This was an excellent movie about the importance of comradeship and the dignity of work even in a menial job in the modern mechanized and dehumanized work space. And, the first time I heard it, years ago, I was blown away by the sound quality.

This is of course not inconsiderably due to the two - as always impressively acting - main actors Franz Rogowski and Sandra Hüller (plus a no less brilliant Peter Kurth), but ultimately the decisive factor is the warmth and sympathy with which the writer/director Thomas Stuber draws his characters under the most adverse circumstances (= the monotonous work in this juggernaut of a supermarket with its endless aisles and towering shelves) treating each other warmly and respectfully and occasionally celebrate the small unauthorized freedoms. If dipped in boiling water they can be shaped into useful utilitarian scoops, attached to sticks, and used to keep our city streets neat and safe for pedestrians. I did not expect it though, even if in retrospective the meeting at his place and how much he wants it to happen and all the details going along with it like how much he says he misses the road are on a level where it really should not surprise anybody anymore.

Exceptional, Up-beat and Extremely Well-Recorded for a Live Album, Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2014. Miles of Aisles, released in 1974, was Canadian folk singer's first live album. She owns the songs in every sense of the word, breathing new life into songs I didn't think needed it. Don't trust anyone who says Joni Mitchell isn't five stars... billions of lightyears of stars. It is one of the finest, if not the finest live albums ever … And a word for engineer Henry Lewy — the sound is terrific, the best reproduced concert album I’ve heard. Not only does it not sound remastered there is no remastering credits on the sleeve. She really must feel best in live surroundings, singing to and for people who can be seen, touched, and responded to. The music on the cd is as I remember from having the lp from years ago and is 5 stars. Also felt it was strange when he followed her to her home-quite creepy.
Don't trust anyone who says Joni Mitchell isn't five stars... billions of lightyears of stars. This is a truly superb record album by a triumphant Ms. Mitchell, a vocal tour de force. I listened to it a lot and really enjoyed it. I don't give away too much, I think - everything will turn out differently, of course, but you will still be able to dream and it is and remains a wonderfully charming film.
