As an acute service, the unit will admit patients with chronic illnesses who are in acute relapse and who would benefit from a short-term hospitalization to improve health and support life functioning. The Adult Intensive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy program does not accept any insurance and is a self-pay program only.The costs of clinician travel to and from locations outside of the hospital, as well as costs to facilitate any exposures, are additional to the base price of the program. When appropriate, and with the patient’s permission, contacts are made with family members or other significant sources of support, medical and psychiatric caregivers, nursing home or halfway house staff, school counselors and, at times, employers. And because of our location within Tufts Medical Center in Boston, we are able to provide psychiatric inpatients with ongoing physical conditions access to the full range of medical services at the hospital as well. Additional inpatient psychiatry services for patients who receive care within the 2 South unit include: psychological testing and assessment, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), ketamine for treatment resistant depression, long acting medication and occupational therapy evaluations.
