The way Jo Martin has been welcomed into the Doctor Who family by viewers, fans and audiences around the world has been thrilling.

There were few to no references to the Doctors past pre-Time War or anything to indicate that anything had been different.

It wasn’t a re-design for the sake of it, we’ve got some classic Cybermen in there, but you always want to have more than one Cyberman in a big, epic Cyberman two-parter. Beyond that, other merchandise took a pummeling. I would love to have brought back Harry Sullivan too, played by the wonderful Ian Marter from Tom Baker’s first season.

The mystery of the ‘Timeless Child’ along with the questions around Jo’s Doctor from episode five… you would hope that we would be getting some answers in the finale. This longtime writer for the series, as well as a writer for Torchwood, is well known on British TV. Young fan girls and an enthusiastic gay following of young men is fantastic, but they give very little back to the series other than love, and are of no value to it. Well she needs stories where she can stand up and be THE DOCTOR.

Now, this is all rumour and hearsay, of course, but with noises like this – and that Chibnall hasn’t been seen onset or at read-throughs for months – it adds to the stink of toxicity that surrounds this era.

And finally, not really worthy of a section on its own, is the script editing.

This of course goes against the classic series where the sonic had no light. But let’s face it, it’d be more comfortable for a lot of fans if the change wasn’t so drastic.

January 25, 2016. If you could bring absolutely anybody back from the show’s history to introduce to the Thirteenth Doctor, who would you choose? She always does. There’s some really deep-dive Easter eggs for fans as we head into the finale as well as big emotional moments for audiences! So by the very nature of being female, the Doctor takes away for the need of a strong female presence, and, since she can’t be that, because she’s the Doctor, it means that there isn’t a strong female presence at all. If you don’t know it, it shouldn’t spoil anything and if you do know it, it should feel like a lovely golden thread throughout the decades.

She’s part of the group that’s on the run from the Cybermen.

We know that Whittaker’s second season features the Cybermen and Judoon, most likely the Daleks too and probably the Sea Devils along with one other big surprise which, to be fair, if they pull it off, might be quite good. They’re the last vestiges of humanity.

So one main hope for Chibnall is that he carries on with the gap bridged and doesn’t rewrite any of the Doctors past. But by Chris Chibnall?

It’s so sad that they’re not with us anymore. Obviously for our gang, who are made up of at least three humans, they’re in particular jeopardy. We can only hope that he meets the Thirteenth Doctor one day….
